Because the Child and Family Traumatic Stress Intervention (CFTSI; the therapeutic modality used in Project CONTACT) is an evidence-based practice, we pride ourselves in following the model with fidelity. This includes collecting both baseline and post-therapy outcomes on the Child Posttraumatic Symptom Scale (CPSS). We ask both the children to rate their own symptoms as well as the caregivers to rate their perceptions of their children’s symptoms. Now that we have four complete years of data, we felt that it would be important to review these data to ensure we’re observing desired outcomes for our families. I’m pleased to say that both the children and the caregivers have significant reductions in their ratings of trauma symptoms after participating in CFTSI. Please see the graph below for details.
