Here at the Children’s Advocacy Services of Greater Saint Louis, we recently conducted an analysis of the case management needs of our clients who had been enrolled in CFTSI vs Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT).
As expected by underlying differences in the two modalities, the average number of sessions differed significantly:
CFTSI: 4.03
TF-CBT: 12.79
Similarly, the average number of case management notes written by clinicians per client across the two modalities also differed:
CFTSI: 0.69
TF-CBT: 1.31
However, to get a more nuanced view of the overall case management burden, we calculated the average number of case management notes written by clinicians per client compared to the total number of sessions and case management notes combined. Here, we can see that it is actually the CFTSI clients that have a higher overall case management burden.
CFTSI: 0.13
TF-CBT: 0.10
So this, combined with all the efforts of our Family Advocates and Family Engagement Specialists, demonstrates that despite the short-term nature of the CFTSI modality, we are actually offering participants of Project CONTACT significantly more case management services than those clients enrolled in our agency’s other most popular therapeutic modality.
